Racking Installation
Points to consider when installing racks
1. Ensure the ground is flat and meets load-bearing standards. If the ground is uneven, reinforce it by pouring concrete or adding steel beams.
2. For low-temperature environments, use corrosion-resistant and low-temperature-compatible materials and apply rust-proof treatment.
3. High-rise heavy-duty racks: During installation, use a level and plumb line to ensure verticality of the columns. Crossbar connections must be tightened with specialized tools. Strictly adhere to design requirements for shelf heights.
4. Clip-on racks: Plan the distance between the exposed surface and the crossbars. The bottom crossbar must be at least 30 cm above the ground. During installation, avoid overtightening, which may damage the clips.
5. Clear the site of debris before installation. Wear a safety belt when working at height. Set up a cordon around the lifting area. The racks must be securely attached to the ground or wall to ensure they are resistant to tipping.
Preparing for rack installation
Before installing the racks, prepare the necessary tools. A forklift is an essential piece of warehouse equipment. Use a forklift to raise the racks from the ground.
If you're installing high-bay racking, you'll also need a scissor lift. This is a very safe way to install a racking system.
Steps for Installing Pallet Racking
1.Prepare Tools and Materials
Gather wrenches, screwdrivers, measuring tools, and racking components such as uprights, crossbars, and shelves.
2.Assemble the Uprights
Attach the diagonal braces, crossbars, and other components to the uprights to create a stable, load-bearing structure.
3.Install the Bottom Crossbar
Place the two uprights according to the spacing between the crossbars. Snap the ends of the crossbars into the diamond-shaped holes and secure.
4. Install the Shelves and Partitions
Place the shelves or partitions on the crossbars to ensure that each level is adjustable and that the goods are stably stored.
5. Safety Inspection and Load Testing
Gently tap various parts of the racking to confirm stability and perform a load test to ensure it is safe to load.
Installing pallet racking is more than just a mechanical task; it's a structural system that must be able to withstand thousands of pounds and meet regulatory requirements.
